How to approach “Deload”

  • Just had a question on how to approach the deload week in your 16 week shredding program, where week one is fours sets, week two is five, week 3 is 6, and week four is the deload with 3.

should I try to push strength/weight on this week to take advantage of the lightened volume of sets to prime for the next four week cycle? Or should I keep the same warmup and top set weight as previous weeks to allow muscles to get a break as the name implies?

thanks, Ive just never done one before and wanted to ask

  • @Jack Bartlett personally, I use the DELOAD week to focus a little more on weights. I continue the week #8 of the extreme shredded plan (training five days), and I'm proud to report that my loads have increased to my quads, Hamstrings & Chest.

  • Exactly the whole purpose is to scale the volume down but keep the weights heavy does it make sense to you?

  • @Jay Cutler it's perfect every 3 weeks. I use to do it every 5 weeks before ; but I recover better that way now.

  • Ok thankyou!
