Dang shoulder

  • Hey guys,

Looks like I have to take a break from upper body for a while.  I have a partially torn rotator cuff 😞

Waiting to see a specialist to find out recovery time and POA for healing.

I've been focusing on legs and cardio until I can hit everything again.

Any ideas on upper body I could safely do,  or should I just avoid that altogether until I'm completely healed?

I usually have to take 2 days off to rest after legs since I push them hard.  And I don't mind cardio much,  but I miss working my upper body so much.  I feel like I'm not in the gym nearly as much now and honestly,  I miss my therapy sessions.

Thanks for any advice you guys have and hope to be back in the gym full time along with everyone else on here soon!

  • This is  a tough one.... you need to work arounf the pain bro.... do things that do not hurt.

  • I did a huge amount of isolation machine work where I could remove my shoulder from the movement. It took about  6 months to be comfortable and 8-9 before I could start pushing things hard again. Best advice is if it hurts, don't do it. Try again in a couple weeks and don't let ego get in the way as you come back. The weights will eventually get back to normal, it just takes time and progress can still be made without huge weights. Good luck!

  • Thanks Jay & Steve.

I'll see what I'm able to safely do while it heals,  then work my way back up again.

    Appreciate the feedback&encouragement!

  • See what you can handle before shutting down completely.

  • Hopefully you're feeling OK bro.
